I. Citizen Comments
Joan Minarik inquired about the contribution to the NNPS who would receive additional $.
She inquired about City Center and making it an entertainment center.
Ask for citizen input.
Ronald Perry Opposing proposed coal-fired power plant in Surry County. Attached and made a part of these minutes.
Mr. Cleveland Mabry commented on the Sunday April 22 DP article on City Center. Not opposed to the idea. Mentioned 1992 when the Monitor Merrimac Tunnel was opened. Concerned that vehicles traveling through the tunnel see nothing but a dead zone, with no business or entertainment. When they get to Aberdeen Road, there is life. His dilemma was that visitors would bypass Newport News to get to other areas, such as Hampton, Suffolk. Why not think of ideas to improve the SE community to draw visitors to Newport News?
