H. Citizen Comments
Rev. James Rudisill, represented the homeless, provided definition of the homeless. Described homeless family he passed by. Expressed concern and anger that the Homeless Shelter was demolished. Fifty beds were inside the building. All of the assets were destroyed. Nothing left to transfer.
Acting City Manager Morgan advised that two public solicitation periods did not come up without any takers or viable re-uses for the building. The demolition had been deferred three times. He provided an overview of what the City was doing for the homeless in the City. in terms of programs. He summarized a number of programs and resources that were available to assist the homeless.
Mr. John Procyson, 305 Normandy Lane, NN, referenced 3/1997 article from Forbes magazine regarding intellectual integrity. City needed more police officers, a rec center in the North District, and a grocery store for the SE community. Vision - happiness of people (attributed to President John Adams).
Ms. Sherri Taylor, addressed Council re need to educate residents of the SE community to prevent chronic disease and to improve the overall physical health.
Mr. Daniel Curran, 10835 Warwick Boulevard, group dedicated to help the City move forward. Thanked City Council for work done to keep the City moving forward. Encouraged officials to keep NNFD fully staffed/funded.
